Whether it's Independence Day or Veterans Day, there's no wrong time to show some patriotism and love for your country. And why not have fun and be kind to our planet while doing it? Enter: this DIY upcycled egg carton American flag craft. A common sight during Fourth of July parades or flying half mast on Memorial Day, the American flag is a symbol of pride. The familiar red, white, and blue elements that make up the flag each have an important meaning: 50 stars represent the 50 states that make up the U.S.A., while the 13 red and white stripes tell the story of the 13 British colonies that declared independence and became the first states. Here at Nellie's Free Range, the flag reminds us of the hard-working American farmers that we partner with; farmers that make up the backbone of our beautiful country.
This DIY American flag craft can be made with just a few items that you probably have around the house, like scissors, paint, a paint brush, and stickers. And of course, an empty Nellie's Free Range Egg carton! Our 18-count cartons are perfect for this craft, so be sure to set one aside after you've finished up the eggs. As for the instructions, they couldn't be easier: simply paint your empty egg carton red, white, and blue, then add star-shaped stickers to complete the look. To turn your egg carton American flag into a door or wall hanging (perfect for the Fourth of July!), you'll just need a hole punch and some string or twine.
