To make the pudding cups
- Sift cacao powder and corn starch to prevent lumps. In a bowl or jar, combine cacao powder, corn starch, and salt.
- Add maple syrup, vanilla extract, 1 cup of milk, and egg yolks. Whisk until fully combined.
- Pour 2 cups of milk into a pot and bring to a boil.
- Scoop 1/4 cup of hot milk from the pot and slowly pour it into the egg mixture while whisking. This step is to temper the egg.
- Slowly pour the egg mixture into the pot while whisking. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once the mixture starts bubbling, cook for an additional minute or two until it thickens, whisking. Remove from the heat.
- Add mashed bananas and whisk to combine.
- To assemble dirt pudding, fill a glass cup with chocolate pudding leaving about a half-inch on top. Top with crushed chocolate cookies and decorate with Halloween candies.
- Cool in the refrigerator before serving.
