It's a hole in one for everybody!

Anyone can grill a burger for a block party or backyard BBQ, but now you can up your grilling game by turning this warm weather favorite into something even more delicious: an egg in a hole burger! This is much more than just a burger with an egg on top, and with a few secret techniques, tips, and tricks, you'll have created a BBQ experience that people will be talking about for weeks to come.

Directions

  1. Form ground beef into 3 patties, then create a bowl in the center of each. If needed, use a can or glass to form the bowl. Place patties on a plate.
  2. Drizzle oil onto patties and use your hands or a silicone brush to coat the entire surface of each patty.
  3. Sprinkle a generous amount of salt and pepper onto the patties and plate, gently rolling the sides and bottoms of the patties in the seasoning. Repeat the oiling and seasoning with white onion slices. For even more flavor, use your favorite seasoning mix!
  4. Heat grill to 375F. Place patties directly on grill, then crack 1 egg into the center of each patty. Place onions on grill and let cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Flip onions and place buns on grill. Let cook for about 2 minutes, then flip buns and remove onions from grill if they're cooked to your liking. Let patties and buns cook for an additional 10 minutes, removing buns once they're golden brown.
  6. Brush butter on patties for extra flavor, if desired. Let eggs and patties cook until they've reached your desired level of doneness, then remove from grill.
  7. Assemble burgers on buns with tomato slices, lettuce, grilled onions, cheese, and any desired condiments, then dig in!
